Federal Agencies
- Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
- U.S. Army Corps of Engineer - Their Environmental Program engages in ecosystem restoration, environmental stewardship and wetland/waterway regulation and permitting.
- U.S. Department of Agriculture: Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) - Offers information and resources for conservation planning. Operates the National Water and Climate Center .
- U.S. Department of Commerce: National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
- U.S. Department of the Interior: U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service - Endangered Species Act responsible for terrestrial and freshwater species except Pacific Anadromous Salmonids; Coastal Program; Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program .
- U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) - A large number of funding programs for Clean Water Act and Endangered Species Act. They manage the EPA Surf Your Watershed site.
State Agencies
- California Coastal Commision Marine, Coastal and Watershed Resource Directory - Coastal Commission regulates development and promotes conservation of coastal areas.
- California Coastal Conservancy - Charged with restoration, enhancement and acquisition of coastal resources. Provides grants.
- California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CDF or CAL FIRE) - Supports fuel load management and wildlife enhancement for commercial and non-commercial forestland owners.
- California Department of Water Resources (DWR) - Provides grants under the Urban Creek Restoration and Flood Control Act.
- CA State Parks - As land managers they are involved (alongside LandPaths) especially with Sonoma County's Willow Creek and its restoration process. Considering Sonoma County is 95%privately owned they are probably one of the largest Public land owners in Sonoma County.
- Department of Fish and Game - Regulatory entity that levies fines, awards grants and maintains the California Natural Diversity DataBase (CNDDB) .
- Fishnet4C - A multi-county entity that deals with salmon protection and county roads.
- North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board - They review development/THP proposals for water quality issues, regulatory can levy fines.
- Sonoma State University - They have a Department of Environmental Studies and Planning . A number of professors and staff are involved with watershed groups.
- U.C. Coop. Extension - Primarily research focused and technical support.
- U.C. Davis Bodega Marine Laboratory - A number of scientists working on good research to be used for watershed restoration.
- U.C.'s Hopland Research and Extension Center
Sonoma County & City Agencies
- City of Santa Rosa Creek Stewardship Program
- Resource Conservation Districts (RCD) - These are the most local entities for watershed group support and restoration efforts.
- Russian River Watershed Association
- Sonoma County Water Agency - Perform research and fund restoration efforts in Sonoma County.
- Sonoma County Ag. Commissioners Office - Supports farmers in using good practices.
- Sonoma County Fish and Wildlife Commission - Provides grants received from fines for poaching or polluting, etc.
- Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District - Helpful with preservation issues
